O-Ring, 1/4" Quick Coupler, EPDM

O-Ring, 1/4" Quick Coupler, EPDM

There's nothing worse than water leaking from your quick connect pressure washer fittings! For what may seem like a bigger issue, often it can be that tiny hidden O-ring from your fittings that can cause the biggest of headaches. because they are commonly lost at the worst of times.

From amateurs to contract cleaners, everybody blows out O-rings, the difference is the pro's always have a few spare O-rings on hand. Don’t get caught without a few extra O-rings on the job. A small investment makes a big difference in maintaining PSI, GPM, and safety.

  • It’s a great idea to have extras in your tool kit.
  • O-Rings are wear items and very inexpensive, keeping a spare supply is a must!
  • O-Rings can be purchased individuality or in Packs of 25.
  • O-rings ensure a tight fit and prevent leaks with quick connect sockets.

Common Causes of O-ring Failure or Leaks

  • Abrasion; Twisting between the wand and the gun. Proper maintenance of not only the O-ring, but the pressure nozzle/plug is important in the life of O-rings. If the pressure nozzle plug (portion that snaps into the brass coupler) is worn, sharp or has rough ridges worn into the plug, this can damage the O-ring when the nozzle is removed and replaced.
  • Compression: Every O-ring seal has a specific amount of squeeze, or compression, that it can undergo before excessive deformation occurs. When an O-ring is exposed to high temperatures, swell, overly high compression or other major stresses, it can lose its elasticity and become unable to return to its original shape. This will cause the O-ring to develop flat surfaces on both sides of the cross-section, making it unable to properly seal.
  • Blow-out: turning the gun or wand on with a fitting or nozzle in the coupler can cause the O-ring to blow-out. With the O-ring gone the fittings will not seal and cause leaks.
  • Chemical or Heat: Make sure your O-ring is properly rated for the temperature or chemical that is being used.
